Player Quickstart Guide
This guide helps players set up their accounts and participate in tournaments run with FightRise.
Prerequisites
Before you begin, make sure you have:
- Discord account with access to the tournament server
- Start.gg account with your tournament profile set up

1. Linking Your Accounts
Step 1: Link Start.gg to Discord
Run this command in the tournament Discord server:
/link-startgg
The bot will:
- Provide an authorization URL
- You click the link and authorize with Start.gg
- Your Discord account is now linked to your Start.gg profile
Verify Linking
Check your linked account:
/my-profile
This shows your connected accounts and any tournaments.
2. Registering for a Tournament
Step 1: Find Your Tournament
When a tournament is announced, the bot will post in the announcement channel with:
- Tournament name
- Registration deadline
- How to register
Step 2: Register
Run:
/register
The bot will:
- Ask which event (game) you're entering
- Confirm your registration
- Notify you when registration is complete
Check Registration Status
View your registrations:
/my-registrations
3. Checking In
When your match is called, you'll be notified in a Discord thread:
Step 1: Check Your Mentions
Look for a DM or mention from the bot in the match thread.
Step 2: Click Check-In Button
Click the "Check In" button in the thread.
Time limit: You typically have 5-10 minutes to check in.
Step 3: Wait for Opponent
Once both players check in, the match begins.
If You Can't Check In
- Technical issues: Contact a TO immediately
- Running late: Message your opponent in the thread
- Need more time: Ask TO to extend check-in
4. Reporting Scores
Step 1: Report Your Win
When your match is complete, the winner runs:
/report
This opens a modal to:
- Select the winner (yourself)
- Enter the score (e.g., 2-1)
Step 2: Opponent Confirms
Your opponent receives a confirmation request. They must confirm for the score to be final.
Auto-confirm: If your opponent doesn't confirm within 5 minutes, the result is auto-submitted.
Step 3: Score Reported to Start.gg
Once confirmed, the result is automatically reported to Start.gg.
5. Common Issues
"I can't find /link-startgg"
Solution: The command might be restricted. Make sure you're in the tournament Discord server.
"Registration failed"
Possible causes:
- Tournament registration not open yet
- You haven't linked Start.gg yet
- You're already registered
- Event is full
"Check-in button not working"
- Make sure you're clicking the button in the correct thread
- Try refreshing Discord
- Check if check-in deadline has passed
"Can't report score"
- Only the winner should run
/report - Wait for opponent to confirm
- If opponent is unresponsive, contact a TO
"I reported the wrong score"
Contact your opponent or a TO immediately to correct it before it's confirmed on Start.gg.
